Biblical StudiesIt is the goal of the Department of Biblical Studies to introduce students to the basic content of the English Bible and to orthodox Christian doctrine. Emphasis in biblical studies is placed on the mastery of the content, people and places found in the 66 canonical books of the Bible. Further, it is the goal of the Department of Biblical Studies to provide students in grades 7-12 with the basic tools necessary to correctly study and interpret the Bible. Special attention is given to the proper ways of interpreting historical, poetic, prophetic and didactic sections of Scripture with a view to making students life-long learners. One of the stated goals of the Bible Department is to lead students into a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ and to assist those who are already believers in growing in the faith. In this regard it is our desire to make the Word of God a living document, applicable to the everyday experiences of life in Junior High and High School and following graduation. The classes that deal with Christian doctrine do so in a charitable manner, allowing for the divergent views of some doctrinal issues represented within the orthodox Christian community. We follow the age-old and proven axiom:
Every student at United Christian Academy is required to take one class in biblical studies each year. This class runs for the entire school year. |
