UCA’s annual 50’s Dinner, hosted by the current senior class, took place on Friday, September 28. Over 120 people were fed burgers, hot dogs, fries, floats, and more in the convenience of their vehicles or at the picnic tables on what was a beautiful fall evening. Over a dozen members of Cars of Yesteryear were on site with their classics and hot rods, and the music was hoppin’. Congratulations, seniors, on a successful evening!
The Junior class’ annual Harvest Party was a great success with face painting, cookie decorating, crafts, carnival games, obstacle course, and more! Thank you, parents, for donating the candy that students collected for participating in activities. Thank you, Juniors, for providing a wholesome, fun night for our elementary students!
For the second year in a row, five students from the upper school participated in the Vermont Symphony Orchestra’s Green Room Program. Dr. Strepka and students were treated to a lunch at the Eastside Restaurant where they shared a meal with their VSO mentor, violinist Hilary Hatch, and composer, Dr. Matt LaRocca. After lunch they headed to the Haskell Opera House for the VSO's “Made in Vermont” concert featuring pieces by Mozart, LaRocca, Haydn and Brahms. Thank you, VSO, for another great experience!
The Team Challenge raised more funds than we imagined, and it’s thanks to all of the students for getting out there and asking for sponsors! We are so pleased that the entire school met their team goals and will all receive an ice cream party. The final totals for the 2018 Team Challenge are: Team Stevens $585, Team Pine $627, Team Kelly $755, and Team Wood $1,550. Keep an eye out for details to come on the ice cream party and dress down day!!
Faculty, parents, and students from all grades met Wednesday morning in observation of the global event “See You At The Pole.” We prayed for many things including our nation’s leaders, students around the world who are also participating in #SYATP, and our UCA community.
