Sixteen years ago a group of pastors from the Newport/Derby area had a dream. That dream was to establish a Christian High School that would serve the spiritual needs of both the Roman Catholic and Protestant communities in our area. The school would be a place of academic excellence, vibrant spirituality and Christian cooperation across denominational lines. It was a bold dream, a unique dream, a dream born of the Holy Spirit. Out of that dream, United Christian Academy was born!

Today, United Christian Academy is a K-12 Christian School of over 100 students. True to our founding vision, the school remains a place of academic excellence, vibrant spirituality and Christian cooperation. It is a place where Roman Catholic and Protestant students and teachers can work and study together under the Lordship of Christ, striving to build a presence of God’s Kingdom in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont. Students today come not only from Newport and Derby, but from all of the surrounding towns and villages. Our Vermont students come to us from as far away as Lyndonville, St. Johnsbury, Lowell, Troy, Barton, Westfield and Willoughby. International students come from all around the world to study here as well. In the hallways of UCA you may see young people from the US, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Viet Nam, South Korea, China, Japan, Germany, Indonesia and Turkey.

The “little Christian school on the border of the US and Canada” now has an international ministry and influence that could not have been dreamed of just sixteen years ago. Once housed in rented facilities in a church, UCA owns (with no mortgage) the former Newport High School and has balanced its budget and ended each of the last six years in the black. Truly God has blessed us and we remain thankful that he is still “able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think…” Ephesians 3:20 NASB.
