At UCA, I have taught Honors and College-Prep English, World Views Bible, and Old Testament ESL (English as a Second Language.) I currently teach New Testament ESL, and assist our international students. A special joy in my teaching is when students ask questions. A number of our international students are not Christian when they come to UCA, and their exciting and inspiring questions grow us all in our faith, love, and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Hobbies: Reading, painting, and spending time with family
Bible Verse: "Who is wise and understanding among you? Let them show it by their good life, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom." James 3:13
I currently am the History teacher at UCA. I teach a number of classes from political sciences, Church History, and American History. I have a deep love for history and work hard to pass this on to my students for the purpose of helping them achieve goals that connect them to history. The main goal of my class is to relate knowledge for useful purposes.
Years at UCA: 3
Credentials: B.S. in Mathematics, M.A. in Theological Studies
Hobbies: Strategy games, fantasy fiction, and puzzles
Bible Verse: The entire book of Job
Mathematics is like mental gym class, and I am the coach. With me your students will encounter hundreds of different stretching and strengthening mental exercises and games for the analytical side of their brain. All the time my students are in a nurturing, growth-at-whatever-level environment that seeks first and foremost the will of God for your child, and specifically instilling in your kids the marvel of God's Creation and the order and majesty of the Universe. In short, we practice Loving God with our minds!
English and Literature
Years at UCA: 6
Credentials: B.A. in English Literature and Theology, M.A. in English
Hobbies: My wife and daughters and I manage a small diversified organic farm with vegetables, hay, and sheep. We're members of the Mater Dei Parish and Saint Mary's Catholic Church and we like to hike, bike, and ski.
Favorite Bible Verse: The book of Job
In my English literature and composition classes for students in grades nine through twelve we work with complicated texts, many of them the great books of western civilization. Through this work we hope to develop the moral imaginations of giants.
It is important to me that my students become comfortable observing the conventions of academic writing that are expected and appreciated across disciplines at the university. We practice using language to interpret, explain, argue, express, create, and praise.
Years at UCA: 15
Credentials: B.S. in Chemistry
Hobbies: Downhill skiing (which is why I love UCA), hiking, camping, canoeing, and stamping
Favorite Bible Verse: "Your word, Lord, is eternal; it stands firm in the heavens. Your faithfulness continues through all generations; you established the earth, and it endures. Your laws endure to this day, for all things serve you. If your law had not been my delight, I would have perished in my affliction. I will never forget your precepts, for by them you have preserved my life." Psalm 119:89-93
For me, teaching provides the joy of walking alongside students and investing in their lives, followed by being able to stand back and watch them become what God has created them to be.
